The largest area of our home is a somewhat combined kitchen, dining and living room area. A skylight and window greenhouse was added in the kitchen area as this part of the house would be very dark without it. The downside of this is that on warm days, this area can get uncomfortably hot, especially when cooking in the kitchen. We have a ceiling fan in the dining portion and a floor fan in the living room, but it doesn't really help much on hot days. Because we often cool down overnight with coastal fog and air that comes in overnight, a whole house AC would not be a cost effective solution when its only this part of the house that heats up. This AC unit is a very cost effective solution to our issues. It is relatively inexpensive to run, and it ishighly efficient in cooling down the problem area in a very short time. We only recently set it up, and I am so impressed with how well it functions. It has made preparing meals in my kitchen so much more bearable! It comes with a remote control but also has controls on the unit itself. It is compact and doesn't take up much space. It is portable, but we don't plan on using it in other areas of the house. It was easy to set up, but I would advise laying out all the pieces for the hose and window installation first to make sure you have them all. We accidentally threw away the final two pieces necessary for the window installation as they were in a small bag that we overlooked. Luckily, we found them! The unit can also be used as a stand alone fan and dehumidifier, an added plus. My only regret is that we didn't get this sooner, it is such a game changer for making our living space comfortable to be in during hot days!
